I have an HP 15 laptop and its bios was just flashed through Windows update and I like to know why. I've been a computer tech since the early 90's and as far as I could tell there was no need yo update the bios.

If you have the HP Assistant installed,  open it and go to Software & Drivers , click on the update settings icon.

 

Click on the Software Update settings button to turn it off.

Now that you have done that, updates will only happen when you select them and click on them to download and install them.

The Software Update settings is enabled by default.
