The biggest thing you can do to have a long service life is to buy a battery desinged to provide a long service life and high power capacities. Exampple you can not get a $20-$40 dollar battery that is designed to last past 1 year or 300 charges. If you want 600-900 cycles or 3 years your going to have to pay more for those cells and they cost $70-$130.

If you get good cells for a qaulity brand, taking care of them is easy, you just turn your laptop or notebook on and use it how you want to use it. They will last.

Hey guys, i recently got a spectre laptop 13-v100, it looks and feels amazing, although i had and still have some issues. In the first days i had a huge problem with heating, i read a lot of related articles from hp and other mainstream outlets upon the matter and it seemed to have worked. Now, i experience battery issues. The laptop is 10 days old and while the first couple days the battery would last 10+ hours with me charging it max once per day, now i have to charge it 2 and some times 3 times during the day. why is this happening. what i am not doing right? i have followed all the tips i could find here and on the web, with no luck. I am aware that batteries are designed to last from 2 to 5 years max but guys...it's been 10 days...... what i do is charge it to 100% until the light is white then unplug, and use the battery till 20%, then charge again to 100%. is that the correct way? i hear some tops that i should keep it on the charger for desktop use but remove the battery, the thing is that you can't remove the battery from this specific model. Can i leave the charger on while working home without damaging the battery? i also hear there could be an hp tool that will bypass battery and send electricity directly to the machine in case it's fully charged. is that accurate? Please let me know what i should do, and please note the specific model, many people tried to help me with tips for spectre 360 and other models, it's not the same. hope you all good! thanks in advance. Vlad.
