@MikeWN1 I did some research on this peculiar issue and here's one other thing that could help us get through this issue:

  • Recover the last working BIOS:
    • Click here to perform a hard reset on your device

If the issue persists, after the above steps, try the below:

    • Turn off the notebook.

    • Plug the notebook into a power source using the power adapter.

    • With the notebook off, press and hold the Windows logo key  and the B key at the same time.

         NOTE:

On some notebook models, it might be necessary to press and hold the Windows logo key  and the V key.

    • While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key  and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).

The HP BIOS Update screen displays, and the BIOS update begins automatically. This might take several minutes, and you might hear additional beeping sounds.

      • If the HP BIOS Update screen does not display, repeat the previous steps. If the issue persists after repeating the steps, skip to the next step to Download a replacement BIOS file.

      • If the Power light turns off, the notebook has turned off because the Power button was held too long. Repeat the previous steps, making sure to hold the Power button for 2 to 3 seconds only.

    • CLICK HERE FOR MORE STEPS AND INSTRUCTIONS.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

The button push method worked and it seemed to go through and reinstall the BIOS. However, this did NOT fix the issue.   It looks like the BIOS version is from 2014. Is there a newer one than this I can use the USB method to load ?

Thx

One other thought on this.  The driver for the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host controller is dated 6/19/2019  version 10.0.18362.207.  The Device Manager does NOT show me an option to roll back the driver, but I know there was an earlier one.  Is there a way to force the old driver installation and keep it from updating to this version?

@MikeWN1

Thank you for posting back.

I am glad to know that you managed to resolve the issue. After reading your post, I did go through the software driver page for this model and found out there are no drivers available for windows 10 OS however for windows 8 and 7 drivers available.

Device drivers are an important component of Windows. They tell the Operating System how to operate a particular hardware device.

Click here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-15-k200-notebook-pc-series/7527530/model/77... to know available software driver for this computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Echo...not helpful.  This issue has NOT been resolved.  I still cannot plug in a USB 3.0 device and have it function.

Hello!

I had the same problem. USB root hub 3.0 showed "not megrated" or required sequensial restart... with no luck. All direct actions on USB part did not help.

I scrolled thru recently installed Win updates and programs.

The service that made my whole USB stack fail was VMware USB Arbitration Service. I did it simple -  removed VMware vSphere client app. I think I could just stop the VMware USB Arbitration Service or do something else more sensible. Since I do not need the vShpere Win client now, I do not care (later I can use Web based connection to the guest machines...)...

I hope it helps somebody.
