HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0004tu
Microsoft Windows 11

Both my USB-C ports are working only intermittently (and then by jiggling raising the cord). Can't charge or connect to HDD.

Local shop tried replacing... still not working!

Where should I go for proper HP repair/support?  I'm in Sydney Australia (Maroubra)

HP service would replace the system board.

I own the same laptop.

Taking into consideration that it is edging towards six years since it came to market, the expenditure may not be worth it.

It is likely to cost more than half of the laptop's current value plus the cost of labor.

Oh dear,,, that's bad news!  I can't afford thousands of dollars right now and my work depends on this very expensive (otherwise excellent) computer...   perhaps there's a 3rd option??? Praying there is!   Thanks for your reply though...

Thanks again Erico. Yes, support at HP did a remote check up with me; very patiently and completely. Came to the same conclusion!
Any jiggling, fiddling with the cables/port as a stop gap (which gets it charging, but not connecting to external HDD) is only a stop-gap fix and will fail soon enough. As will the whole thing I suppose after 6 years. Shame it's been a great computer; but the salesperson in the support guy's motivation told me of the 'great deals' on the latest, better, bigger etc... ! I may have to bite the bullet to the tune of A$3k or so.   Any thoughts on preference for a 16in Spectre v a Zbook Firefly??
Thanks!
Geoff

I would prefer the Spectre over the ZBook Firefly.
