HP Pavilion dv6894ca Entertainment PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop, exact model is HP Pavilion dv6894ca Entertainment PC. It's a high-end entertainment laptop from 2008. Even though it's 11 years old at this point and it amazingly still works just fine despite it overheating so much and having an extremely loud fan I use it as my daily driver because it's still a great computer that I absolutely love and i'm tight on funds.

I recently replaced the integrated webcam since the original one stopped working and ever since I installed the new one my laptop detects the device but it is unable to find a compatible driver. I tried searching for the driver manually and automatically in Device Manager, I've installed third party driver updating programs (even the reliable and trusted ones can't find it), I've tried installing HP Pavilion webcam drivers from computers similar to my model but even that failed. I have tried everything and I still cannot use my webcam.

I know that my laptop is out of warranty, discontinued and it's been retired by HP recently but if anyone is able to find a compatible webcam driver somewhere on an HP website for me that works with my exact model that would be great! I don't understand why finding the right driver for such a simple device has to be so complicated.

If it helps, my laptop's specifications are listed below.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 running at 1.83 Ghz

Memory: 4 GB of RAM (upgraded from 2 GB)

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

Storage: 120 GB Kingston SSD (upgraded from the original 500 GB hard disk drive)

Operarting System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (originally Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit)

Thank you, and let me know if anyone finds a compatible driver!
