Is it possible to upgrade from core i5 to i7 of my laptop.? My model name is HP PAVILION-cc 132TX, core i5 - 8th Gen, with 8 GB DDR4, 4 GB DDR3, NVIDIA GEFORCE-940 MX, 2TB STORAGE. I want to upgrade from i5 to i7. Kindly, assist me on this, if this is possible. If not, kindly explain why. Thank you!

Hi:

 

The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded separately.

 

In order to upgrade the processor, you would have to replace the motherboard with one listed in your notebook's service manual that may come with better processor.

You would probably have to replace the heat sink as well.

 

The costs attendant to doing such an upgrade would probably come close to what you paid for the notebook.
