Yes, you can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

The manual also indicates that with the processor and graphics configuration your notebook has, you can install a M.2 SATA SSD.
NVMe SSD's are not supported.

Which of the two SSDs is better for the laptop?

The Samsung drive has slightly better write speeds than the WD M.2 drive.
Before buying a M.2 drive I would open up the notebook just to make sure the M.2 slot is there like the service manual indicates.
Sometimes the manual is not correct, and the slot is only there if the notebook came with a M.2 SSD from the factory.
Other than the Samsung 2.5" drive's faster write speeds, it would be a matter of personal preference as to which form factor drive you want to use.

I've never used Acronis software to clone drives, so unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question.
FWIW, if you go with the Samsung drive, you can use the free Samsung magician software to clone the drive.

I've never used that either.
I prefer to clean install Windows on new drives and then reinstall my programs and files.
I don't have that many, so it is not a problem for me to do it that way.
