Hi all,

This is my laptop: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06382932

This is the original RAM (2 sticks): https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/dram/module/M471A5244CB0-CTD/

This is the RAM I bought to put into my laptop (2 sticks): https://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Micron/MTA8ATF1G64HZ-3G2E1?qs=rrS6PyfT74e0rFogrkCrkA==

Now, both Task Manager and TechPowerUp MemTestX64 show a memory clock of 2400MHz, while the upgraded RAM should be able to run at 3200MHz. I already updated my BIOS to rev. 3.9.0.0 (latest, as far as I know), and did the Windows Memory Check (no errors). As far as I can tell both types of RAM are compatible, but unfortunately the speed doesn't show this. Is this some kind of limitation in my laptop?

When looking on Crucial's website for RAM compatible with my laptop, other 3200MHz DIMM's are shown, although I wonder if these would actually run at the designated speeds...

Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance!

HP will not sell a laptop with memory that runs slower than the system is capable of running. 3200 is compatible, or 2666, but the system will run it at a max 2400 speed.

I'm guessing there is no workaround for this limit, right?

Right
