HP Pavilion 15 Laptop PC 15-eh3000 (794P4AV)
Ubuntu LTS

This laptop comes with 2x8GB 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM and I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade to 32GB?

Yes, that is very unusual that all the reports and the service manual indicate that the maximum memory is only 2 x 8 GB.

I found one post where someone successfully installed 2 x 16 GB of memory in the model series you have:

Memory upgrade for Pavillion 15-eh3000na - HP Support Community - 8819530

You should be able to.

Run this command to confirm:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

The Crucial memory report for the model series indicates it will support up to 2 x 32 GB of memory:

HP Pavilion 15-eh3000 | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial EU

HP only has the service manual for the original 15-eh1xxx model series available.

I am using Ubuntu 24.04 at the moment but I believe this would be the equivalent command:
sudo dmidecode -t memory | grep -i "Maximum Capacity"

Which returns this result:
Maximum Capacity: 16 GB

Not too long ago I tried the same command on windows and I got "16 GB" as the max capacity.

Is HP limiting the maximum capacity via their bios and is there a possible way to remove this restriction because the laptop does have two slots which are upgradable but they have already put in the maximum capacity they could which is super weird.

A friend of mine gave me a 16GB Kingston RAM module which I installed successfully in my HP Pavilion 15 eh3000nia.

Afterwards I decided to order two 16GB Modules(KCP432SD8/16) and they seem to be working perfectly.

I have successfully upgraded my RAM to 32GB, thank you for the guidance 🙂

You're very welcome.

That's great news 32 GB of memory worked in your notebook.
