Zbook 15 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I am considering to buy a second hand Zbook 15 G4 (via Markplaats.nl, a dutch website for second hand goods), which is still under manufacturers warranty. Unfortunately the seller does not have the invoice (he bought the laptop from his employer). If i buy the laptop, will I be able to get service (hope it is not neccesary) under warranty without having this inovice? The seller already has shown a picture showing the HP webiste with the active warranty. Is there any way to get the warranty confirmed by HP before buying the laptop?

Thanks in advance for your response,

Johan

Hi

The Born on Date should be the initial power on.

As to whether a Warranty is transferable I dont know.

ESC and then F1 get's you here.

Many thanks for your fast reply. I believe the "born on date" is probably ok and the almost 2 years warranty are indeed still active (I'll check it with the laptop before actually buying it). Unfortunately it doesn't answer my main question (will the waarnaty transfer with the ownership, even without an invoice). I hope someone at HP will be able to confirm if it is possible to transfer the warranty and that having the laptop with the serial number is enough .

Hi, @Jannesdemannes

I don't work for HP, but I can share with you my most recent personal experience.

As long as there is a warranty still in effect, you don't need to provide proof of ownership.

I just bought a used HP Stream 11 Pro G4 business-class notebook from eBay late last month (3/19), and there happened to be 2 months left on the original 12 month warranty.

I needed to order recovery media for the notebook, and if the business-class notebook is under warranty, HP will ship the recovery media free of charge.

I called the customer services number, told them what I needed, they asked for the model and serial number, and mailed out the recovery media within 3 business days.

Other than my name, address and phone number, they did not ask for anything else.

I have done this in the past as well but I figured I'd let you know that this practice is still in effect.  Nobody has ever asked me for proof of ownership for the times I have called HP business PC support.

If you want or need someone from HP answer your question regarding this matter, you can contact them at the link below.

You're very welcome.

Also, I didn't even register the PC in my name.

I remember with Dell, I had to fill out a PC ownership transfer form before they would talk to me under the warranty, when I bought used Dell PC's that still had warranty time left on them.

It was easy to do, but it had to be done.
