HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC
Linux

I have an HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC.  The part number is 15t-k000.  I looked up my PC by serial number and part number.  According to the manual, the WLAN options supported are as follows:

  • Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter available for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
  • Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter available for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
  • QCA 9565 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter available for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter _NA - 7260 non-Vpro version w/ dual antennas for use with HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC models only

When I check my hardware via "lspci", I see that my PC lists my WLAN adapter as the following:

Network controller: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM43142 802.11b/g/n (rev 01)

How is that possible?  And if this is true, then what is the slot type?  Is it mini PCI-e or is it M.2 (NGFF)?

Hi:

HP must have substituted the Broadcom card for the QCA 9565 since both are single band cards with bluetooth.

The form factor of the card is HMC (Mini PCie).

It probably has this card in there...
