Hi:

Below is the failure report generated by the code you posted, minus your notebook's serial number.

Failure Information
Failure ID Tag Checksum HP Serial Number Test Date Failure Code Device Includes Error Message
GLVU0M-82QABB-MFGK61-60TU03OKXXXXXXXXXX12/28/20303StorageFloppy Drive, Hard Drive, Memory Drive, Optical Drive, SCSI, Tape DriveHard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure

You will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing, normally more reliable 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

After you replace the drive you can reinstall W10 for free by making bootable installation media using the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option.

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Thank you so much for your help Paul.

What do you think about disk cloning or migration? I have some programs that are hard to get again if lost, so I would need them to be on the new hdd or ssd.

HP Recommended

Cloning is not recommended from a source disk having an error code. You will just copy the errors on the disk. But you can try it and if it does not work go back to clean install. Do you not have a backup?

You're very welcome.

Thanks for your reply Huffer.

I do have a backup of the files, but there are applications that I cannot let go because they are hard to get again from suppliers and the process is long. I was hoping that I could just clone everything. I guess I will just get a new hard disk and do a clean install.

HP Recommended

Try the clone first. There is a chance it will work fine if there has not been any file corruption. As you move forward, you want to keep a current "system image" backup not just back up your files. This will allow reinstall of apps and settings and everything should the hard drive crash again.

Hi, @ABachir

I highly recommend this free utility to create system images for your PC's.

Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

You can save the image to your portable hard drive and keep it up to date.

The software will also have you create a bootable recovery utility that you use to access the system image stored on your portable hard drive.

It is very user friendly.
