this part is on my MB. I wanted to upgrade the laptop and saw this connection.  It is too small for an sdd or had so I don't know what it is for.  This laptop is extremely slow, I took out the hdd and replaced it with an sdd and maxed out the ram, still very slow.  I thought adding an nvie m.2 might help but this mother board is missing the connection for it. Although the place it would go is labeled.   I thought maybe and adapter could fit on the connection in the photos to help speed it up somehow.  Anyway what is this for?

Its the connector for an optical drive. You could use it to install a caddy that has an SSD inside it. Might not be bootable and may run at a slower speed.

99% it is for a WWAN card but I believe it is disabled.
