There's nothing actually wrong, I was just replacing my battery and was looking at the circuitry and was wondering what this empty slot is for.

Its specs

It has 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB).  I can't see the full view of your image. Looks like it is the second slot of RAM as shown at location 9 on the following image

 

           ramb.png

 

You can add same existing RAM to have 16GB.
