my laptop is HP Pavilion x360 - 14-cd0021tx. I want to know whether it has m.2 slot and does it support NVMe SSD or only SATA ssd.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA hard drive installed on the PC.
To get the answer to this question, Yes! you can add Solid-state hard drive see the below image on dual storage:
And, also you can refer Maintenance and Service Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06140017 for more information on storage.
