Hi recently was sent a new laptop after a coffee spill on my 15bw069sa which is no more, my old laptop i upgraded to 16Gb ram 2x8Gb sticks in to 2 slots, when my new laptop arrived which is a HPlaptop da0998na i whipped the back off to upgrade also to 16Gb but to my suprise their was only one port.
I ran CPU-Z this tells me i have 2 ports ?, the motherboard on this laptop is named 84AA, so why has my board only got one slot and why is CPU-Z saying i have 2 ?.
any help much appreciated.

Hi:
Below is the link to the product specs for your model notebook.
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06051268
Notebooks that come with the Intel® Pentium® Silver N5000 processors only have one memory slot.
Here is the link to the service manual, which specifically indicates that there is only one memory slot for models with the Pentium processors--chapter 1, page 2. The max is 1 x 8 GB.

Paul,
Many thanks for your reply, next question is if i have upgraded my RAM to the 8GB does this invalidate my warranty ?.
the reason i am asking is this so called laptop was sent to me by my insurance company as a like for like replacement, and my old laptop had 2 memeory ports so i upgraded to 16Gb RAM, the new laptop has one memory port and as you pointed out can only take 8GB RAM.I have complained but they are saying tough as the warranty is invalid as it was opened and had the RAM changed, I did run CPU-Z which said it had 2 ports !!!.
Regards
Danny.

You're very welcome, Danny.
Since I don't work for or represent HP, unfortunately I am not able nor authorized to discuss warranty terms.
You would have to bring that question up with HP directly.

From what I understand, the warrany remains in force unless you break something in the process of disassembling the notebook.
