If I want to upgrade my computers processor, would the Intel Core i5-9600KF be supported? this website: http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket_1151_H4_LGA1151.html says it would be supported, but https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05369438?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001 says that it only supports 5 upgrades. Is this true, or am I safe to put the Core i5-9600KF into my computer?

Socket LGA 1151 on your motherboard. The i5-9600KF is FCLGA1151. Not the same. The 9th Gen CPU will not be backward compatible on a motherboard made for a 7th gen. It would fit in the socket but the computer would not POST.

Hi, @RaZy_Bandana

I would say that it wouldn't be possible to upgrade to any processor beyond those listed.

I checked your PC's support page, and none of the BIOS updates show support for newer processors.

Here is a discussion where someone recently tried to upgrade the processor in a similar model with negative results.

So If I find a CPU that is LGA 1151, and is a 7th gen processor. Would that processor work with my computer? Or what Paul_Tikkanen said, and only the ones listed.

And, If my chipset is Z170, would It only support processors under LGA 1151, and Z170?

HP Recommended

Assume only the ones listed. It's more than just the theoretical capability of the chipset. BIOS, etc. HP designs it for the listed CPUs and if anything else works its just a happy accident.
