I know my HP Laptop 14-dk1074nr, has a extra slot to put more ram in, but what kind of ram should I use? IT currently has one 8GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM ram stick in, does it matter what one I put in? Is there a max amount i can put in?

Its specs

       https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06625193

It has  8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) now. You can add SAME existing 8GB to slot 2 to have 16GB. You can use other RAM given it has same specs of its existing RAM.

You can also use https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct18380463

or upgrade to 32GB using

                               https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfd824a/ct18380376

or (will run at 2400MHz):
