HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-bp1xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello to whoever reads,

I want to upgrade my existing storage in my HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-bp1xx laptop as I found out that there is a 2.5-inch storage slot but I am not sure what kind of drive is supported in that slot. I am unsure if my laptop supports an internal SSD or HDD for the 2.5-inch slot.

I already have an NVMe M.2 SSD for one of the two storage slots and wanted to expand the storage only by adding and 2.5-inch drive.
The product number is 1UG62UA#ABL.

If anyone could help me with what drives are supported and what is the best option to go with then that would be greatly appreciated. Also if you could help me get the right ribbon cable to go with the supported drive then that would be amazing.

Thankyou.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether your computer supports a dual hard drive configuration.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I checked the specifications of your computer and see that your computer supports a dual hard drive configuration and you can install a SATA hard drive on the computer.

Refer to the below service guide for your computer for more information.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hello there,

Thank you for replying.

I went through the manual and was only able to find that my device supports a specific type of SATA drive which is 1-TB, 7200-rpm, SATA, 9.5-mm hard drive, part no. 766457-857 and I can get a hold of a hard drive that matches the specifications but the hard part is the connector cable and I shuffled through the internet to get the HDD cable that supports the device but could not find any and both the HP store and Reseller did not have them in stock so could you help me find the HDD cable to install the hard drive.

I tried A HDD cable but turned out the device require a specific cable and I was not able to find it.

If you could help me find a cable or at least tell me what exactly I should look then that would be amazing.

Appreciate all the help I could get.
