@fanta14,

Your product number related to the HP 15-G019WM NOTEBOOK PC (ENERGY STAR) circa 2014

The internal hard drive is: 500GB SATA hard drive - 5,400 RPM, 2.5-inch form factor, 7mm height

Specifications found here           service manual found here     Video how to remove hard drive

You will be working on the lower part of the computer, not the screen part.

A ZIF connector attaches the keyboard to the motherboard. If you break the ZIF cable or connector, your Dead in the Water. So be very careful. The hard drive removal page 49 will take you back to other pages. The ZIF connector is on page 37.

It has told you the hard drive is failing.

I would suggest you file copy all your data files (documents, pictures, music, export bookmarks, etc). Then run the system diagnostics. This is dicey if you do not have a workable hard drive to clone from, or created USB Recovery Media (16GB preferred). But you can get a new install from other sources. This can all be discussed later.

I am not usually hanging about the laptop subforums.   I did move this inquiry to the correct subforum.

Question (no harm no foul): Why did you original post your message in the Desktop hardware subforum?  Is there a fault within the board logic?

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
