Pavilion 15 - cb008nt
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I need to replace my laptop battery as it's almost dead after 3 years of use. So I will buy a replacement battery. My battery's model is SR04XL.

My question is, is this SR04XL model code enough to make sure the battery is compatible with my laptop, or does the new battery also has to match my current battery's (the battery that came from the factory) part number, the code after the phrase "Replace With HP Spare", or the CT Number written under it?

Which of these numbers and codes are determining the compatibility of the new battery with my laptop? I don't want to buy the wrong battery.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Model: HP Pavilion 15 - cb008nt

Product Number: 2GR77EA#AB8

You need the HP Part Number. The battery Code SR04XL is broader in application and might be used in laptops other than HP so if you just buy one with that Code it might work, maybe even likely will work, but not for sure.

Battery (4 cell, 70 Wh, 4.55 Ah) 917724-855

Service Manual

pp. 34-37 for replacement instructions.

Above is a "compatible" third party battery. In this case a "genuine" is quite a bit more expensive:

Normally we need part # to be sure. Your machine uses 4-cells battery part # 917724-855. In this case, both codes are the same one.
