Why are my fans always running at high speed, even when Im just checking my email?

My fans are almost always running at high speed, sometimes when I'm just checking my email. It has a very low speed, but pretty much any time I do anything that requires more than basal energy, my laptop starts blasting the fans, but the thing is that often the laptop isn't even warm when they start going. I tried going into my power settings, and I tried to change it in the BIOS, but nothing came up in either setting. I use my laptop a lot at night and in class, so what should I do to keep the fans from being loud and disruptive all the time?

Clean the air vents

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Remove any objects near the computer.

3. Use a vacuum to remove the dust from the vents underneath and on the sides of the computer.

   

4. Turn the computer on, and then place it on a hard, level surface, such as a desk or table.

Update the graphics driver

1. Make sure your computer is connected to an active Internet connection.

   NOTE: 

   On a metered Internet connection, such as a cellular network, you might need to manually download updates.

2. In Windows, search for and open Windows Update settings.

3. Click Check for updates.

   • Windows 10: Any available updates install automatically.

   • Windows 7 and 8: Click Install Updates next to the available updates.

4. After the updates install, restart your computer, if necessary.

Update the BIOS

1. Go to HP Software and Drivers Downloads, and then navigate to the product page for your computer.

2. Locate BIOS in the list.

   • If the BIOS option is not available, the BIOS is up-to-date.

   • If the BIOS option is available, click BIOS, and then click Download next to the update. Follow the on-screen prompts, and then restart the computer. For more information, go to Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System).
