I upgraded my ram from 4gb 1866 to 8gb 2400.

But in task manager the speed is still 1866 why?

I assume from the posting that the RAM speed referred to is the advertised speed rating?

RAM is rated for certain max speed but the system, mainly the CPU,  actually set the speed the system will run.  The new RAM is rated to run up to the 2400 speed but the system only needs the 1866 speed.

If the BIOS will allow it, the RAM speed may possibly be adjusted there but that is usually not allowed in a OEM system.
