WiFi Card Upgrade

HP 15-R204NE Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello,

I want to upgrade my laptop's wifi card to a 5Ghz one? I want to get the most out of my Wifi.

I figured that there is a BIOS whitelist that approves the upgrade for Wifi cards. Does anyone know that I can upgrade on mine?

And if I can, does anyone know which one is a good 5Ghz card with Bluetooth module?

Waiting for a reply.

Regards
Zarak.

Hi,

There is no BIOS whitelist in your 5th gen Intel core processor notebook

But you've to make sure your laptop has 2 antennas on the wireless card at present before you can put dual band card. Otherwise you've to do major disassembly of notebook to add another antenna all the way to the display assembly.

These are good ones that should be compatible:
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0, HP Part number : 710661-001

Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0, HP Part number : 717381-001

Needs major disassembly to reach the slot.

Thank you for your reply,

How do I find out that my wifi card supports 2 antennas?

And major disassembly is no problem because I've already opened my laptop to upgrade the ram. So no prolem with that.

Thank you so much for your suggesstion.

Regards,

Zarak.
