HP ENVY All-in-One 32-a0xxx

after the last Windows 11 Home update the system did not recognize the built in webcam. Reinstallation of the Camera App did not help. I had to use the 23H2 Repair Programm to solve the problem. The latest Windows update causing the problem is now waiting to be installed and I am sceptical to install it again. Any suggestions?

Hi @rellez,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with your built-in webcam after a Windows 11 update, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try before installing the latest update again.

  • Update Drivers: Make sure all your drivers, especially the camera driver, are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager or by visiting the manufacturer's website and downloading the latest drivers for your specific model.
  • Check Privacy Settings: Sometimes, after an update, privacy settings can change, causing certain devices like webcams to become inaccessible. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and make sure the toggle for "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.
  • Run Windows Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help diagnose and fix common problems. You can try running the troubleshooter for hardware and devices to see if it can detect and resolve the issue.
  • Rollback Driver: If updating the drivers didn't work, you can try rolling back the camera driver to the previous version. To do this, go to Device Manager, right-click on your camera device, select Properties, go to the Driver tab, and click Roll Back Driver if the option is available.
  • Check for Known Issues: Visit the Microsoft support website or forums to see if there are any reported issues with the specific update that caused the problem with your webcam. Sometimes, Microsoft acknowledges these issues and provides workarounds or fixes.

If you're still skeptical about installing the latest update again, you can delay it for some time until you're more confident that the issue has been resolved. You can pause updates in Windows settings for a certain period to prevent automatic installations. However, it's generally recommended to keep your system up to date for security and stability reasons, so make sure to install the update once you're sure the webcam issue has been addressed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Dear Alden4 @ HP Support and hi again, - thanks for your help.  Following your suggestions I struck a problem. My HP Envy All-in-One 32 was originally delivered with Window 10. I successfully upgraded same to Windows 11 on its arrival  and it worked fine. But now trying to obtain the newest camera drivers from the suggested HP support site I noticed that Window 11 cannot be called up in the respective windows! Windows 10 only appears. What can I do to get access to the latest Windows 11 drivers for my system? So far I did not reinstall the latest Windows 11 update. Would much appreciate your help - thank you.
