battery charging problem

@supporter1

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

I understand the battery charges up to 100% in about 45mins, however, when disconnected it shows only 50% charged,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you attempted to reinstall the battery drivers?

Did you check with an alternate battery or another adapter?

While you respond to that, here're a few things you can attempt:

Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.

Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

If the issue persists, update the BIOS and the chipset drivers using this link: Click here

Keep me posted,

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

Regards,

battery charging problem

Hi @supporter1,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I understand you are not sure how to follow the steps suggested in the previous post, don't worry I'll guide step by step.

Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.

Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Please follow these steps here:

Step 1

Click the Windows "Start" button and right-click "Computer."

Step 2

Click "Manage," then "Device Manager."

Step 3

Click the "Batteries" section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4

Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" device and click "Uninstall."

Step 5

Click the "Action" menu item and "Scan for Hardware Changes" to reinstall the driver.

Next thing was to update the Bios and chipset drivers:

Link to update the Bios: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76001-76500/sp76219.exe

Link to update the Chipset drivers: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72068.exe

For more details, please click here

Next thing, I would suggest here is to run the test on the battery from F2.(Click on Component test - Scroll down to Power)

Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
