Hi @pooj23,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 is experiencing sudden shutdowns and rapid battery drain, even when plugged in. It could be due to a battery health issue, a firmware problem, or power management settings. Let’s try troubleshooting the issue and fixing it:
1. Run HP Battery Check
Use HP’s built-in diagnostic tool:
- Download and install HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows.
- Open the app → Select Component Tests > Power > Battery.
- Run the test and note the battery status (e.g., “Replace”, “Calibrate”, or “OK”).
2. Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated firmware can cause power issues:
- Visit the Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- Download and install the latest:
- BIOS update
- Chipset drivers
- Power management drivers
3. Check Windows Power Settings
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Battery Usage.
- Look for any app draining power abnormally.
- Under Additional Power Settings, choose Balanced or HP Recommended.
4. Battery Calibration (if test suggests it)
- Charge the battery to 100%.
- Let it discharge completely until the laptop shuts down.
- Recharge to 100% without interruption.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
