Example: Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recently purchased a Pavilion Entertainment laptop, model dv6-1243cl, on ebay to use for vacations.

I have bought several computers on ebay and had no problems. Not this time. Supposedly, only the battery

was bad and everything else worked fine. Only, the wifi card is missing. Works fine if I use my external adapter

but that kind of defeats the point of a laptop. Can someone tell me the hp part number or what card would be

compatible. My router is a Linksys N900 dual band.

Hi:

On that model series HP had a BIOS whitelist, which prevents any wifi card that didn't come with the PC from working.

The card you buy must have the HP part number on it or it will not work.

So the only wifi card you can get is the one listed in the parts list for your notebook.

I checked on eBay by doing a search of the wifi card part number and here is a listing...

The one I would try would be the this one which is the least expensive listing that actually shows the part number on the 'Replace with HP spare' label.

Thanks for the information. It finally occurred to me to check the back of the cover for the hd and wifi.

There is listed the broadcom BCM94322HM8L as the wifi card. Looking on ebay I found that same card

has many variants. Some are listed for Lenova and HP and others for Dell, etc. What made me think there

was a difference was the slot location in relation to the label on the card. Some were right side and some

were on the left. Description for the cards seem to indicate that left side slot fit the HP and right side fit

the Dell. I ordered one and am keeping my fingers crossed.

You're very welcome.

If you ordered the part number I listed, you should be fine.
