hello ,
i have an HP pavillion x360 14 inch laptop
model - ba253cl
does my laptop support nvme ssd or sata III ssd

Hi:
According to chapter 1 of the service manual, your notebook's M.2 slot supports SATA SSD's only.
It does indicate that your notebook supports NVMe Optane memory, but the slot is PCIe Gen 3 x2, which means that a NVMe SSD may work at only half speed, or not work at all. It would be a gamble.
For use only on computer models with model number 14m-ba2xx: 16-GB, 2280, Peripheral Component
Interconnect Express (PCIe)-3×2, Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe), 3S XP solid-state drive.
This discussion shows that a NVMe SSD works in the older model series...so maybe one will work in yours too.
