Welcome to the HP English Community --

Some of the Envy models do include a fingerprint reader.

Your model might include a fingerprint reader or it might not.

What?  There are many, many "Envy 360" models in the world.

===================================================

Open

 Product Home

 Enter the device type and model name of your HP product

Open Category Setup and User Guides

Find and open the Maintenance and Service Guide for your machine.

Search for "fingerprint" -- if the word is not in the document, your system does not include the feature as an option.

If the word "fingerprint" is in the document, your computer perhaps at least offers the option.

Read the document and note the location and content of the search results.

===================================================

Next,

Typically, when included, fingerprint readers are location somewhere on the keyboard area or in the TouchPad.

One possible location of a fingerprint reader can be found in the lower right of the top cover (includes the keyboard).

Check just below the keyboard itself.

The reader might appear as a little "box" or (in older models) as a raised slot.

If the keyboard area includes a "box" type reader, the box might indicate an actual fingerprint sensor or the box might be a "cover plate" that marks where the sensor would be located if the feature were included in the hardware.

AND

Look for the fingerprint reader in the Device Manager

If there is no Biometric section in the Device Manager, then your computer does not have a fingerprint reader.

  (Box is a blank cover.)

Example - Device Manager - Biometrics > Fingerprint reader / Cameras

===================================================

Next,

Whether the computer includes the feature can be checked in PartSurfer.

Method – Use PartSurfer to check the parts / components in your computer

PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly which parts came with your computer.

  • For best results, use the Serial Number for your search
  • Reminder:  Do NOT post private information (including serial number) in the Community

 Open PartSurfer

  • Select your Country
  • Search for your computer / printer / device >> See HINT
  • Need Help?  Tab Self help > find and open the User Guide and FAQ

How to use PartSurfer:

  • Select your region / country - PartSurfer must know your general location
  • Enter your device Product Number , Serial Number, or Part Number in the Quick Search box
  • HINT: To see a system-specific list, replace the Product Number with your device Serial Number
  • Items accompanied by a tiny box in the Add-to-Cart column are available for purchase

Parts marked as "n/a" (or are missing from the list) are not available from HP.
