Hi:

Yes, you have to look at the advertised sequential read/write speeds for each model SSD.

The WD Blue models have the fastest speeds available.

Here are the videos to open up the notebook and change the hard drive and memory...

Hi:

Yes, I would get the fastest speed you can, because even with a fast SSD, and 8 GB of memory, the performance will be marginal at best.

I believe that all 2.5" SSD's are 7.0mm in thickness.

I have the HP 255 G7 notebook with the A4 processor, SSD and 8 GB of memory and I don't like the performance at all.

It is the business class model of the 15-db0000 model series.

Mine came with the M.2 drive from HP, and I don't know how fast the read/write speed is because I have not tested it.

But I doubt it is the fastest one you can get.

As far as installing it yourself...take a look at the videos and decide if you want to try it.  It is not very easy to do.

Your notebook's processor is not supported for W11.   Needs to have a Ryzen 2xxx processor or newer.

So, you would have to manually install W11 (the upgrade from Windows Update will never be available), and run the notebook in an 'unsupported state.'

Unsupported Windows 11 PCs will get cumulative updates, at least for now (windowslatest.com)
