been asked by a friend if she can upgrade this laptop?

 

anyone know if it is socketted? and what does it support

 

or does anyone know a way of upgrading the cpu? such as swapping that part of the motherboard for a different pavillion model?

Welcome to HP support community.

 

I'm afraid HP neither recommends nor supports changing the processor of your device as it may render the device unstable due to incompatibility among other components of your device.

You may want to check the HP service and maintenance guide for details on the parts tested for your device if you wish to proceed anyway, however, you may have to do the same at your own discretion.
