Got it! Since your HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab292nr is an older model (around 6–7 years old), the latest version of HP Support Assistant (HPSA) might not run properly on it. Here’s how you can download a legacy version of HP Support Assistant that works better with older systems:

Recommended Legacy Version:

You can use HP Support Assistant version 8.8.24.33, which is compatible with older laptops running Windows 10 (64-bit).

🔗 Download Link:

Here's a direct link from HP’s official FTP archive (still hosted by HP):

🔽 HP Support Assistant v8.8.24.33 (SP96081)

File name: sp96081.exe
File size: ~180 MB
OS Support: Windows 10 (64-bit) and older systems

💡 Installation Tips:

  1. Uninstall any existing HPSA version first from Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Restart your laptop.
  3. Install the downloaded version from the link above.
  4. Once installed, disable automatic updates inside HPSA to prevent it from trying to update itself to a newer version that may not work well.

🧹 Additional Speed Tips for Your Slow Laptop:

If your system is slow, try these steps:

  • Disable startup apps: Task Manager > Startup tab.
  • Check for high CPU/disk usage via Task Manager.
  • Run Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr).
  • Consider upgrading to an SSD if still on an HDD — huge speed difference!
  • Make sure RAM is at least 8 GB.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
