THANKS.

So whats the going rate for an 4gb chip?  Will this one work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/46W0692-IBM-4GB-PC3L-12800-CL11-ECC-DDR3-1600MHz-VLP-RDIMM-/142247793350?has...

HOLD THE PHONE!

The memory is DDR3-1333 aka PC3-10600. It is 1.5 volt not 1.35 volt. And if you have been hanging around the Forum for a few years you know these first gen Intel Core machines are very, very finicky about their memory. It has to be low density not high density and the safe thing is to find the actual HP-recommended chips. I can pretty well assure you if you bought the memory you link, it will fail to work. Matter of fact the stuff you linked from eBay would not fit and is ECC server memory, not even laptop memory.

You need this:

Memory module (DDR3 PC3-10600 1333-MHz) 4096-MB 599092-001

Sorry to shout but this was not moving in a positive direction.

The good side are both since they are compatible, the only thing that changes is the breastfeeding being older is possible that is better, but there has to be a balance between breastfeeding and Mhz the good side are both CL9 or CL11 and both answers.

-DDR3 1333 PC3-10600 -CL 9

-DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 CL 11
