Hello,

I have a laptop with a rather small drive and I wanted to upgrade it. I checked what kind of a connector it has and I saw it was m.2, so I went and bought an nvme drive. I removed the old drive and tried to insert the new one, but quickly noticed that the bitting wasn't the same. It can only take sata m.2 drives. Is this because of a bios/software thing, or because of the way it is physically wired?

Hi:

The M.2 slot only supports SATA M.2 SSD's.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.   Chapter 1, page 3 has the supported drive types.

A M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD should fit in the slot just fine, but it won't work.
