Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have a ENVY hp laptop that I would like to use with a new 24" monitor, i was shown how to set it so that th new screen does'nt go blank when i close the lid on the computer. Now i would like to know if there is a way to  use  the on-off switch and turn the computer on with the lid closed. inother words with out opening the laptop?
