Hi! @bmbvw77, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand you are getting plugged in not charging on your laptop.
Don't worry I will try to help you out.
Did you make any software or changes on your laptop?
Please try the steps recommended below.
Try performing a hard reset on your PC.
1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Replace the battery and Reconnect the AC adapter.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.
Go into the Device Manager. (type device manager in the search all programs and files box and press enter)
Click on the triangle next to the Batteries device to expand it.
Right-click on the devices that are revealed. One at a time, select uninstall for each of the following devices. (Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery)
Once you have uninstalled them, then right click any device and select scan for hardware changes.
Restart your notebook and check if the issue still persists.
I'll keep an eye out for your response.
I hope you have a great day! 🙂
