HP Pavilion - 15-cs3073cl

my product:

Model: HP Pavilion - 15-cs3073cl

Hard Disk: SSD (upgraded)

operating systemWindows 11 Home 64-bit (upgraded)

CPU:  Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.30GHz
Old Ram: 2 x 8gb
New Ram: 2 x 32gb (crucial) installed

I checked my laptop with crucial to see if i can upgrade the ram and the answer was YES, so I ordered 2 x 32gb rams then i upgraded my ram from 16gb(2 x8gb)  to 64(2 x32gb)  and now my laptop is slower or freezing, I contacted HP support and they said per that per the HP manual your laptop ram is up to 16gb and cant be increased by anyway!!!

I mean i bought this laptop new 2yrs ago from Costco and i am just surprised why they designed it to hold max ram of 16gb??

Hi:

While the Crucial memory report is usually correct, it is not 100% reliable.

I recommend that forum members wishing to go beyond the limitations of what HP indicates is the maximum memory in the service manual to run the following command:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Works for me and the hundreds of other forum members I gave this info to.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know why it doesn't work on your notebook.

If you have the HP support assistant program installed, that may also tell you how much memory your notebook can support.
