should i upgrade my laptop pavillion dv3-2155mx from 3gb ram to 8gb ram? will the upgrade be worth it? they will use the laptop only for browsing internet and to watch youtube videos.

Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM PC2-6400, 800-MHz, DDR2

 

If RAM were free yeah absolutely but DDR2 is expensive. 8 gigs (2 x 4 gig modules) costs at least $120 for decent name brand memory and that is frankly too much to spend on this machine. If you actually have 3 gigs it would only cost a few bucks to upgrade to 4 gigs and that would actually be noticeable and worth it. I am assuming you really have Windows 7 64 bit installed. 

 

2 gig module needed to replace the 1 gig module and go from 3 to 4 gigs:
