small amount of water hit keyboard. Everything is working but left shift key. Works sometimes. Works with some programs.

When spill happened it was just a tiny bit of water. I dried immediately but when shift key didn't work, I popped it off and used a q-tip to sop up tiny drop of water. Put key back on. It now works sometimes. In some programs, no problem. It's not consistent. I removed key and tried to be sure it was on properly when I put it back on. Still same problem. Any suggestions.  It is a 3 year old notebook which had been working perfectly.
