HDD 1TB 5400 rpm SATA ... says HP

HDD 1TB 7200 rpm ... says Best Buy (seller)

I suspect a motherboard failure.

There is no response to inserting the power adapter (which creates the correct output voltage), no response to the on/off button with/without the power adapter connected, etc.

The HDD contains client data, so I want to pull & erase it.

1) I've removed the visible case screws, but cannot figure-out how to open the case.

2) I would like to know the type & dimensions of the HDD, so I can order the correct cable.

Q/ Is this the correct (type of) cable?

Your machine actually is an HP ENVY x360 - m6-ar004dx. Its specs:

    https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05187565

It has 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA that means it has 2.5" hard drive

2. Any standard 2.5" HDD for laptop with 7mm thickness will fit.

1. There are few more hidden srews, please use the folloiwing manual which shows you where

               http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05085451.pdf

3. Yes, you can use that cable but if you wish to reuse the old HDD then put it to an USB enclosure for easy handling. Few examples:

Thank you for the speedy & informative response.

Just to be fair to me, the model number in the header is from the (limited) (mandatory) drop-down choices in the HP forum system 😉

Cheers,
