the dv6-6193ca won't turn on.
can i take the harddrive out and install it in the almost new (yet to purchase) dv6-7029wm?
after install will data be transfered safely?

Hi,
Given no damages to your old HDD, my suggestion: put old HDD to a 2.5" enclosure and use it as an external HDD. No need to open new machine to swap around and may cause un-predicatble damages to it.
Standard 2.5" USB enclosure costs around $15 to $20. For example
