Hello community,

I have a laptop that is several years old, an HP Pavilion 15-P261, serial number 5CD509050B / product L0Z64EA#UUG.

The laptop still works perfectly with BIOS version F.30. But I can't install Windows 11. There is obviously a TPM 2.0 problem related to the BIOS.
In the BIOS manager (F10), I don't have the option to enable TPM 2.0.
I can't update the BIOS either; there's no option to do so. I tried the update procedure (Windows+B / start), but nothing happened.
I downloaded BIOS version F.36 onto a USB stick to update the BIOS, but the system refused, saying it was not compatible.

Can anyone help me find a BIOS version that is compatible with my old laptop or help me activate TPM 2.0? Without it, I won't be able to install Windows 11.

Thanks in advance,

Massa

Hi:

Your PC does not have a TPM 2.0 security device.

That is a hardware device and updating the BIOS won't make any difference.

Not to mention even if your notebook did have TPM 2.0 hardware, the processor falls short of meeting Microsoft's minimum processor requirements to run W11.

Windows processor requirements Windows 11 supported Intel processors | Microsoft Learn

The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

You can easily install W11 on your notebook as is by watching this video at the link below.

If your PC is running fine I don't recommend that you update the BIOS, but if you want here are the info and exe file links to the last BIOS update HP released for the 15-p200 model series with Intel processors (F.57):

Thank you, Paul, for your reply, clarification, and advice.
I will try to install Windows 11 following your advice, without updating the BIOS.

You're very welcome.

I am running W11 25H2 on a HP 350 G1 notebook with an i3-4005U processor and no TPM security device

Works fine.
