Hi i`m new on this need a bit of help please i have a HP Pavilion dv7-6154ea Notebook PC i want to upgrade memory it has 2x4gb giving me 8gb i would like to put 2x8gb in giving 16gb or more if i can

It's a bit of a gamble but experience has shown that on the Intel Core CPUs 2d generation which you have, the Quad COres, which you have,, can take 16 gigs. This is an entirely unofficial upgrade as the specs say it can only take up to 8 gigs.

 

HP does list an 8 gig module in the Service Manual:

 

Memory modules (2, DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHz) 8 GB (for use only with computer models equipped with an Intel processor) 634091-001

 

If one 8 gig module will work, so will 2. You want to be sure to get a matched pair.
