Your service manual (pages 38-39) indicates that a connector you are referring to is for a fingerprint reader cable, not for a cable for a 2.5" hard drive. Fingerprint reader is an optional feature, and obviously it didn't come with your model and its ZIF connector just sits there unused.  

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

 

Page 2 of the manual states your model supports only M.2 NVMe/SATA SSD, and the manual has no references to 2.5" SATA drives.

 

If you need more storage, you would need to replace a current 256 GB NVMe with a one with a larger capacity.
