Hi @saurav07,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the Windows key on your HP PC running Windows 11 is not working, here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Steps to Fix Windows Key Not Working

1. Check for Physical Lock or Sticky Key

  • Some HP keyboards have a Function Lock (Fn Lock) or Gaming Mode that disables the Windows key.
  • Try pressing Fn + Win or Fn + Esc to toggle it.
  • Also, check if Sticky Keys are enabled:
    • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.
    • Turn off Sticky Keys and Filter Keys.

2. Run HP Keyboard Diagnostics

  • Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP UEFI diagnostics.
  • Run the Keyboard Test to check if the Windows key is physically responsive.

3. Check Group Policy Settings (Windows Pro/Education)

If you're using a work/school version of Windows:

  1. Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer
  3. Look for “Turn off Windows Key hotkeys” and set it to Disabled.

4. Registry Fix (Advanced)

⚠️ Only do this if you're comfortable editing the registry.

  1. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
  3. If you see a value named Scancode Map, delete it.
  4. Restart your PC.

5. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver

  • Open Device Manager > Keyboards.
  • Right-click your keyboard > Uninstall device.
  • Restart your PC Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
