Hi @DeoZ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with your unit not powering on.

If your HP 14s-dk0079au laptop does not power on even when connected to a working adapter, several potential issues could be causing the problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check the Power Adapter and Cable:

  • Ensure the power adapter and cable are functioning correctly. Try using a different compatible power adapter if available.

Inspect the Power Port:

  • Check the laptop's power port for any visible damage or debris. Gently clean the port if necessary.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter from the laptop.
  • Remove the battery if it is removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery if it's removable) and try turning on the laptop.

Check for Power Indicators:

  • Look for any lights (LED indicators) on the laptop when you plug in the adapter. If there are no lights, it could indicate a power supply issue or a motherboard problem.

Remove Peripheral Devices:

  • Disconnect all peripheral devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.) and try powering on the laptop.

Test with a Different Outlet:

  • Plug the power adapter into a different wall outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.

Inspect the Battery:

  • If the battery is removable, try removing it and powering the laptop with just the adapter. If the laptop powers on, the battery might be faulty and need replacement.

Kindly find the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @DeoZ,

Please find the next set of steps below.

Check for Overheating:

  • Overheating can sometimes prevent a laptop from powering on. Ensure the laptop has adequate ventilation and try again after it has cooled down.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

If none of the above steps work, there might be an internal hardware issue. Here are a few possibilities:

Internal Power Connector:

  • The internal power connector might be damaged or disconnected.

Motherboard Issues:

  • A faulty motherboard or other internal components could prevent the laptop from powering on.

DC Jack Issues:

  • The DC jack (where you plug in the power adapter) might be damaged or loose.

If you are unable to diagnose or resolve the issue with the above steps, it might be a hardware issue.

Reach out to HP Phone Support for further repair/service options. or Take your laptop to an authorized HP service center.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
