Microsoft Windows Vista

My notebook will not boot up, I am trying to find out if the Windows Vista which was manaufacturer installed is 32 or 64 bit.

As we have properly understood your issue you are facing issue in the 32 or 64 bit system:

 

If your computer is running Windows XP, do the following: ... If you don't see "x64 Edition" listed, then you're running the 32-bit version of Windows XP. o. If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP.

Thanks for your reply. The operating system is Windows Vista, but as it will not boot up I cannot use the laptop to try the HP solution to findind out if it is 32 or 64 bit
