Your PC came with an HP OEM version of Windows preloaded -- and the product key embedded into the UEFI firmware of the motherboard will ONLY work with THAT version of Windows.
IF you installed a different version, like something you bought or downloaded from Microsoft or from an online store, that will not be an OEM version and that will not use your product key. In that case, you would have to purchase a product key that matches the version you installed.
