Hi @Vikas8108,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To activate Windows on your HP Pavilion dv6-7080ex Entertainment Notebook PC, follow these steps.

Check Windows Version

  1. Find out your current version of Windows:
    • Right-click on This PC or My Computer and select Properties.
    • Check the Windows Edition listed in the System section.

Get the Activation Key

If you have the original product key:

  • Check the back of the laptop or inside the battery compartment for a Windows product key sticker (for older versions like Windows 7 or 8).
  • If you've upgraded to Windows 10/11, your license might be tied to your Microsoft account.

If you don't have a product key:

  • Use a key retrieval tool like ProduKey or ShowKeyPlus to find the embedded key in the system (if applicable).
  • Alternatively, you may need to purchase a valid license key from Microsoft or an authorized reseller.

Activate Windows

Open the Activation Window:

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Update & Security > Activation.

Enter the Product Key:

  • Click Change product key.
  • Enter your product key and follow the on-screen instructions.

Online Activation:

  • Ensure your device is connected to the internet for automatic activation.

Activate via Command Prompt (Optional):

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Enter the following command:

slmgr /ipk <Your-Product-Key>

  • Then, activate with:

slmgr /ato

Note:

  • Error: Invalid Product Key: Ensure you’re entering the correct key. Keys are version-specific (e.g., Windows 7, 10 Home, or Pro).
  • No Product Key Available: Contact Microsoft Support or purchase a new license.
  • Older Windows Versions: If using Windows 7 or 8, ensure all updates are installed before activating.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
